Tours at Hatcher Family Dairy

Tours include visits to:

  • Abe Hatcher Creamery

Our creamery opened in 2009 and is named after Charlie and Jim Hatcher’s father, Abe Hatcher. Step inside our viewing area to learn all about how we process our milk.

  • Milk Barn Museum

Our milk barn has been the heart of our farm for the past 75 years. We may not use the old milk barn anymore but we have preserved it to show the next generation how a milk barn looks. In the museum you wil find Hatcher family history, milk history and local history.

  • Robot Viewing Room

In our robot viewing room you will get to see our two robots at work and learn all about our farm practices.

  • Barn Loft Viewing and Play Area

We renovated our hay loft in to a play area for kids! Kids can “play” milk a cow, bottle their milk and sell at the store! We also have viewing windows looking down on our cows and calves.

Our tours are self-guided, unless otherwise noted. This gives guests time to spend at each stop and learn!

Field Trips

We offer educational school group tours in the Fall and Spring. We have a three class minimum for guided field trips.

Group Tours

We have a 30 person minimum for all scheduled group tours. We offer tours for 30-50 guests as self-guided at $12 per person. Guided tours for groups of 30-50 guests are subject to availability and increased ticket price.

F.A.Q.

  • What is included in tour?

This is a self-guided walking tour that includes:

The tour starts off in our Milk Barn Museum- learn about our farm and Hatcher family history in our historic milk barn where we have milked our cows for the past 75 years!

Next stop, visit our brand new robot viewing room- Watch our two Lely robots milk cows and learn about robotic milking systems.

Next the tour takes guests upstairs to our newly renovated barn loft. Upstairs we have a kids play area where kids can pretend milk a cow, pretend bottle milk and pretend sell their milk in our play store! There is also viewing windows to our loafing barn, calf area and two windows to view our milking robots from above.

This is self-guided so that you may enjoy each space at your own pace. Some visitors may wish to learn about history while others may choose to spend more time playing - and that's okay! You will have approximately an hour and half to enjoy all the tour as to offer.

After your tour, you may drive over to our Dairy Store on the farm to purchase milk, local goods and Hatcher Family Dairy merch!

    Is the tour handicap accessible?

This tour is on a working dairy farm with historic structures. We do our best to accommodate all guests, but terrain is uneven and there is a flight of stairs to the barn loft play area. Please reach out to us at tours@hatcherfamilydairy.com with any further questions.

    What should I wear?

We encourage you to wear closed toe, comfortable shoes. No sandals or heels. Not all buildings are climate controlled so please dress appropriate for the weather. Tours are rain or shine.

    How long is the tour?

You will have access to the tour facilities for an hour and a half. We ask that you proceed to the store after that time to make room in our parking lot for our next tour.

What ages are appropriate for the tour?

A: All ages! We have made this tour self guided so that guests may take their time based on interest and age of group members. Some little guests may want to play longer than other guests. And some older guests may want to spend more time learning about history. We aim to have a fun experience for the whole family!

May we bring lunch and picnic?

We do not offer picnicking at our tour location - you may grab a sandwich at our store and enjoy the picnic area there.

What if there is bad weather?

Tours will continue rain or shine. If there is a severe weather threat we may postpone the tour. We will notify guests via email.

Will we get to pet animals?

No. This is not a petting zoo. For the safety of our guests and animals, access to animals is not permitted during this tour. You will get to view cows safely.
